Here is the synopsis of the fictional piece:
After coming face to face with the murder of a young Black man in her hometown, Bianca Lydia Miller feels like she has disappointed her social justice fighting grandmother, Mimi, by letting her legacy die when she did, eight years ago. Bianca, who’s law career now defends the rich and powerful, feels hopeless as she faces her own neglect of justice work, when so many others do not have a choice but to keep fighting. She realizes she cannot rely solely on Mimi’s legacy, but must establish her own if she is going to stay committed to being an advocate of racial justice for the long haul. As she begins to re-engage with the people and causes she once loved, Bianca begins to grasp glimpses of hope about her unique role in the fight for racial equality.
